Watercolor Supply List
Don’t have supplies? No problem! These recommendations will help you get started:
Paints
- Beginner Paint Palettes: semi-moist cake palette (12 cakes, Blick or Amazon) and I just found that Walmart.com has a 12 pan of Yarka Semi Moist Paints which is my favorite for beginners with its vibrant, lightfast colors and large pans and is very reasonable in price! Van Gogh is fine- look for a set that has vibrant warm & cool blue, red and yellow, and a brown and hopefully yellow ochre
- I do NOT recommend 1/2 pan or travel size sets - due to small pan size, they will be harder to work with and more frustrating.
- Tube Paints:
- Blues: Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue
- Purples: Dioxazine Purple or Windsor Violet
- Reds: Cadmium Red Light/Medium Hue, Alizarin Crimson
- Yellows: Cadmium Yellow Light & Deep, Aureolin Yellow
- Earth Tones: Burnt Umber, Raw Umber, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre
- Greens: Pthalo Green (blue hue) or Viridian Green, Sap Green

- Paper Towels or plain non lotion tissues
